Born at Islington, Middlesex. and lived at 13, Fowler Street, Derby. Brother of Edward Allen, of 26, Hermes Street, Pentonville, London. He was a paper stainer prior to enlisting at Derby on 30th August 1915, went to France on 13th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
