Born in Nottingham. Son of William and Catherine Allen, of 1, Mayfield Terrace, Kirkwhite Street, Nottingham. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Nottingham on 13th March 1913. He went to France on 27th December 1914 and was killed in action on 12th March 1915 during the German counterattack at Neuve Chappelle, France.
