Born at lived at Fenny Bentley, Derbyshire. Husband of Mary Allen, of Fenny Bentley. He was a labourer prior to enlisting at Ashbourne, Derbyshire. He went to Ireland on 16th April 1916 and served in Dublin during the Irish Rebellion. He went to France on 26th February 1917. He received shrapnel wounds to his leg thigh and shoulder on 5th April 1917 and died, 10th April 1917 at No. 48. Casualty Clearing Station at Bray Sur Somme, France.
