Born in Nottingham. Son of Ernest William and Annie Allen, 46, Sandon Street, New Basford, Nottingham. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France on 11th November 1914 and was killed in action on 13th June 1915, whilst serving in the trenches near Verlorenhoek Road, Ypres, Belgium.
