Born at Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Son of Alfred and Sarah Elizabeth Allen, of 62, New Tythe Street, Long Eaton. He lived at 27, Upper Brook Street, Long Eaton. He was a labourer prior to enlisting at Ilkeston on 25th May 1915. He went to France on 6th March 1916, was appointed Lance Corporal on 8th September 1916 and was killed in action, on 13th November 1916 during the attack at St. Pierre Divion, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
