Born at Wormhill, Derbyshire, Son of William and Mary Ann Allcock, of Post Office Villas, Peak Dale, Derbyshire. He was a labourer prior to enlisting at Buxton on 11th November 1914. He went to France on 18th August 1915. On the 14th November 1916, he was awarded a Good Conduct Badge. He died, 10th March 1917, of gunshot wounds to his head, leg and back at No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station, Warlincourt, France.
