Born in Nottingham. Son of Edward and Emma Alford, of Nottingham; husband of Elizabeth Alford, of Gregory’s Row, Woodlinkin, Langley Mill, Derbyshire. He was a mason’s labourer prior to enlisting at Nottingham, went to France on 25th February 1918 and died from gas poisoning on 8th May 1918
