Born at lived at Strumpshaw, near Lingwood, Norfolk. Son of Thomas and Ellen Alexander, of Lingwood, Norwich. He was a fisherman prior to enlisting at Norwich. He was killed in action, 24th November 1916, during a German artillery barrage, whilst on a working party to the north of Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
