Private Albert Adwick

Battalion: 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Shireoaks, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Charlotte Adwick, of 4 Glaenthorn, Shireoaks. He was a colliery pony driver at Shireoaks Colliery prior to enlisting at Newark, Nottinghamshire, on 15th January 1915. He went to France on 28th June 1915 and was wounded in September 1916. He suffered gas poisoning on 12th May 1917 and was transported back to England. He returned to France and was then sent on to Italy with his battalion in December 1917. He was killed in action on 11th December 1917 whilst serving in the trenches near Ciano, Italy.
