Born and enlisted at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son og James and Emma Adlington, of 17, Sousby Street, Chesterfield. Husband of Lucy Hannah Adlington, of 20 Victoria Street, Chesterfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He died on 17th May 1917.

His brother Sapper Christopher Adlington, Royal Engineers, also fell in the Great War.
