He was born in Nottingham and lived at Hyson Green, Nottingham. Son of John Samuel Dunn and Ann Adkin, of 133, Brushfield Street, Hyson Green. He was a postman prior to enlisting at Nottingham on 9th December 1915, went to France on 9th September 1916, and Italy on 9th November 1917. He returned to France on 18th September 1918 and was killed in action, on 24th October 1918, during the attack near Fontaine-au-Bois, France.
