Born and lived at Church Gresley, Derbyshire. Husband of Daisy Irene Adams, of 25, Chapel Street, Church Gresley. He was a sanitary ware presser prior to enlisting at Derby on 22nd February 1915. He was appointed Lance-Corporal 12th April 1915 and promoted Corporal 24th July 1915. He went to France on 12th October 1915 and was killed in action, 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
