Born at Derby. Son of George William and Sarah Ann Adams, of “West View,” Station Road., Mickleover, Derbyshire. He was a clerk and lived at 1 Radbourne Street, Derby. He enlisted at Derby on 1st June 1915. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 15th September 1915 and went to France on 6th March 1916. On the 14th of August 1916, he was wounded in the face and was admitted to No.12 Stationary Hospital at St. Pol, France. He was promoted Lance-Sergeant on 3rd September 1916 and was killed in action during the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt, France, 10th October 1916, aged 25 during the Battle of the Somme.
