Born at Killamarsh, Derbyshire and was the son of William and Hannah S. Adams, of Sheffield Road, Killamarsh. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and went to France on 2nd May 1915. Was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette date 23rd February 1918 “For gallantry and devotion to duty when he was with the battalion at the Drocourt-Queant Line near Izel-Les-Equerchin, France”. He was killed in action on 16th October 1918.
