Corporal Cecil Henry Adams
Army Number : 73379 (formerly 12189 Essex Regiment)
Battalion: 15th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
He was born at Lambeth, Surrey. Son of Walter Henry and Adelaide Adams, of 123, Mortlake Road., Ilford, Essex. He was a piano tuner. He enlisted at Warley, Essex on 31st August 1914 and went to France on 12th July 1915. Was promoted to Corporal on 17th September 1916. Suffered gunshot wounds to his back on 8th June 1917 and after being treated at No. 46 Casualty Clearing Station, was transferred to England via the Hospital Ship Essquibo. He was transferred to the 15th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 22nd October 1917 and returned to France on 20th December 1917 joining his battalion on 8th January 1918. Died of wounds 28th March 1918, age 23.
