Born at Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. Son of Benjamin and Alice Adams; Husband of Catherine Adams of 51, Lime Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a coalminer at Brierley Hill Colliery (Stanton Hill), Nottinghamshire prior to enlisting at Mansfield, 24th August 1914 and went to France on 18th May 1915. He was killed in action on 4th March 1917 in the attack south of Albert, France.
