Born at Chapel en Le Frith, Derbyshire. Son of Alfred and Kate Adams, of 88, Holcombe Street, Derby. Husband of Florence Adams, of 65, King Street, Whittington Moor, Derbyshire. He was employed as a joiner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire, on 11th December 1915 and was transferred to the Durham Light Infantry 14th February 1917. Went to France on 26th February 1917. He was then transferred to the 1/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 11th September 1917 and was killed in action during a German attack and British counter-attack of the lines at Pontruet, France, 22nd September 1918.
