Battalion: 17th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Duffield, Derbyshire and lived in Nottingham. Brother of Mary A Mellor. He enlisted with the 9th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment at Derby. He went to Gallipoli on 23rd September 1915. He was later transferred to the 17th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action whilst serving in the line at the Canal Bank, near Ypres, Belgium, 23rd June 1917.
