Born in Bristol and lived at 21, Marlborough Road, Salford, Lancashire. Husband of Esther Schlessing (formerly Ackstine) of 15 Sycamore Street, Hightown, Manchester. . He was a waterproof garment maker prior to enlisting 5th February 1916 at Manchester. He went to France on 6th March 1917. Killed in action in the attack on Bayonet Trench during the Battle of Arras, 23rd April 1917
