Private John William Aby

Battalion: 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

He was born at Grimsby, Lincolnshire and lived at Beeston, Nottinghamshire. Son of John and Clara Aby and husband of Catherine Aby. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France on 29th March 1915. He was killed in action, on 14th February 1916, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack on the front line trenches, near the canal to the southeast of Ypres, Belgium.
