Born at Thrandeston, near Diss, Suffolk. Son of William and Emma Abbott, of Suffolk. Husband of Clara Abbott, of 59, Duke Street, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield on 6th March 1915. He went to France on 27th October 1915 and died of shrapnel wounds to his chest and legs on 26th May 1916.
