Born at Beeston. Nottingham and lived at Arnold, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France 6th March 1916. Killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
