Lance Sergeant Eric Charles Wright

Son of Walter and Mary A. Wright, of 79, Bishopthorpe Rd., York. He was a student prior to enlisting on 31st July 1915 at York, into the 6th Battalion Royal Fusiliers. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 23rd November 1915. He went to France on 8th March 1916 and was admitted to No. 1 General Hospital, Etretat, France 30th may 1916 suffering from jaundice. He was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Devanha on 1st June 1916. He returned to France on 10th October 1916 and suffered gunshot wounds to his left foot on 27th October 1916. He was admitted to No. 2 Canadian Hospital, Boulogne, France, on 31st October 1916 and transferred to England, on 2nd November 1916. He returned to France on 14th June 1917 and suffered gunshot wounds to his right thigh on 31st July 1917. He was admitted to 47 General Hospital, Le Treport, France on 6th August 1917 and transferred to England on Hospital Ship St Dennis, 30th August 1917. He returned to France on 22nd March 1918 and was posted to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters, on 29th March 1918. He was appointed Lance Sergeant on 27th September 1918 and was killed in action, 13th October 1918, aged 20, during the attack on Neuvilly, France.
