Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Thomas and Maria White, of 20 Blackwell Colliery, Blackwell, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He enlisted on 10th November 1914 and went to France on 17th February 1915 and was killed in action on 13th March 1915 whist the battalion was moving back to the reserve trenches on the Rue de Tilleloy, at signpost corner, near Neuve Chapelle, France.
Buried: Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France. Plot 28. Row E. Grave 27.
