Born at Bulwell, Nottingham and lived 502 Vernon Road, Basford, Nottingham. Was married to Sarah Johnson at Bulwell, 8th December 1915. He was a coal miner at Bulwell Colliery. He enlisted 15th February 1916 at Derby, went to France 6th September 1918. He was wounded and taken to 12th Casualty Clearing Station where he died on 5th October 1918.
