Son of C. H. and Ellen Tomlinson, of Derby; Husband of Lily Tomlinson, of “The Lilies,” Scarsdale Avenue, Littleover, Derby. Went to France on 1st March 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 27, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

Buried: Serre Road Cemetery No.2, France. Plot 4, Row C, Grave 9.
