Son of William and Mary Taylor, of 64, Lansdon Road, Swadlincote; Husband of Rebecca Newberry (formerly Taylor), of 58A, Hill Street, Swadlincote, Derbyshire. Went to France on 1st March 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 26, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
