Husband of Ellen Vardy (Formerly Swinscoe), of 11, West Street, South Normanton, Alfreton, Derbyshire. Went to France 27th August 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France during the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
