Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of John and Ellen Stokes, of Upper Broughton, Melton Mowbray. The first person to enlist from Kinoulton, Nottinghamshire and late a corporal in the local Church Lads Brigade. Went to France on 17th February 1915 and was wounded at Neuve Chapelle, France on 11th March and died on 12th March 1915, aged 19.
