Son of James and Lucy A. Slater, of 35, Woodward Street, Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Went to France on 28th February 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 20, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
Buried: Foncquevillers Military Cemetery, France. Plot 1, Row L, Grave 50.
