Son of Henry and Elizabeth Sherwin, of 1, Sap Lane, Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Husband of Mary Sherwin, of 37, Gerald Griffin Avenue, St. Marys Road, Cork. He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action on 20th October 1914, aged 29, when the battalion held position south-east of Bois Grenier, Ennetieres/Escobecques, France against a German attack.
