Born 4th December 1894. Son of The Reverend Alexander and Elizabeth Salmon. Educated at Denstone College, Staffordshire. At the outbreak of war, having been in the School O.T.C. he was given a commission as Second Lieutenant in the Reserve Battalion of his Regiment in August 1914 and proceeded to France January 1915 where he was attached to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was promoted to Lieutenant May 1915 and gazetted after his death, 14th June 1915, aged 20, when he was killed in action near Ypres, Belgium.
