Son of Mr and Mrs Robinson, of 2, Bar Lane, Old Basford, Nottingham. He lived at 6 Whitemoor Road, Old Basford, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner (pony driver). He enlisted on 3rd December 1914 at Nottingham and went to France on 14th July 1915. Was awarded the M.M. London Gazette on 23rd August 1916 “For gallantry and devotion to duty when in the attack on Fricourt Wood, Railway Alley and Lozenge Farm near Fricourt, between 2nd and 5th July 1916″. Bar to M.M. London Gazette 18th October 1917 ” For gallantry and devotion to duty during a hostile raid by the Germans when in the trenches in Klein -Zillebeke sector, on 15th August 1917″. Was wounded in October 1916 and was invalided home by hospital ship H.S. Jan Breydel on 26th October 1916, suffered gas poisoning 26th April 1918 and was wounded again on 9th September 1918. He died of wounds on 18th October 1918, age 22
