Husband of Ada Read, of 46, Wavertree Vale, Wavertree, Liverpool. He enlisted at Liverpool and went to France on 27th August 1915. He was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, age 39, during the attack on Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
