Battalion : 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Hulme, Lancashire and lived at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of John & Mary Penford, of Hawthorne Terrace, Blidworth, Nottinghamshire. He was a professional soldier and served in India before going to France 4th November 1914. He was killed in action during the battle of Neuve Chapelle, France, 13th March 1915.
Buried/Commemorated : Le Touret Memorial, France. Panel 26 and 27.
