Born at Fernilee, Derbyshire and lived at Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire. Son of Sam and Sarah Hannah Mycock, of 111, Macclesfield Road, Whaley Bridge. He was a leatherworker prior to enlisting. He went to France on 28th February 1915 with the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was awarded the Military Medal London Gazette on 11th November 1916 as Sergeant. 1788. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 29th August 1917 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 24, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
