Born at Belper, Derbyshire and lived at 6, Kent Road, Stapleford, Nottingham. Son of Thomas and Harriet Morley, of 8, Field Road, Belper. Husband of Alice Joyce Morley. He was a labourer prior to enlisting on 9th September 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th August 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
