Battalion : 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at North Thorsby, Lincolnshire and lived at 51, High Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Son of Joseph and Phoebe Moody. He was shunter at Crown Farm Colliery, Mansfield, prior to enlisting at Mansfield 27th May 1915. He went to France 6th March 1916 and suffered gunshot wounds to his right thigh, 10th October 1916. He was treated at 49 Casualty Clearing Station Grove Town , Meaulte, France. He was transferred to No. 3 Stationary Hospital Rouen, France, 14th October 1916 and to England on Hospital Ship Western Australia, 23rd October 1916. He died, 8th November 1916, aged 34, at the Lord Derby War Hospital, Warrington, Cheshire, from secondary haemorrhage after amputation.
