London Gazette 8.3.1919: On the 3rd October 1918, at Ramicourt and Montbrehain, he led his platoon with great skill and dash, and continued to do so until severely wounded. He led his platoon through a heavy enemy barrage with total disregard for danger, and absolute coolness and devotion to duty.: Died of his wounds  4.10.1918, whilst serving with the 1/8th Battalion.
