Born and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Husband of Nora Millward, 56 Park Road, Chesterfield. He was a coal miner at Grassmoor Colliery prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He posted to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and later posted to the 12th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died of wounds 13th August 1916, aged 33.
