Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of Samuel and Elizabeth Messom, of 31, Camden Street, Sneinton, Nottingham. Husband of Nellie Messom, of 42, Whittier Road, Sneinton, Nottingham. He was a bricklayer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
Buried: Knightsbridge Cemetery, Mesnil-Martinsart, France. Row D. Grave 3.
