Corporal Francis William Melbourne

Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of William and Rachel Melbourne, of Sunny Villa, Windmill Lane, Belper, Derby. Went to France on 25th June 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 25, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
