Born at Swadlincote, Derbyshire and lived at Castle Gresley, Derbyshire. Son of Henry and Mary Jane Meadows, of Burton Road, Castle Gresley. He was a stoneware sanitary pipe loader prior to enlisting at Burton-on-Trent. He was killed in action, 31st July 1917, aged 25, during the attack near Bellewaarde Lake, Belgium.
