Born at Arnold, Nottingham. Son of Thomas And Mary Mayfield, of 66, Furlong Avenue, Arnold, Nottingham. Was a coal miner. He enlisted at Nottingham, went to Gallipoli July 1915 and was killed in action in the attack in the gap between Damakjelik Bair and Yilghin Burnu towards Chocolate Hill/Ismail Oglu Tepe, Turkey, 9th August 1915, age 20.
