Born at Dumfries, Scotland and Husband of Annie Maxwell, of, 5 Sunburn Terrace, Peveril Street, Nottingham. He was a chairmaker prior to enlisting 21st June 1909 at Nottingham. He went to France 28th February 1915 and died, 30th July 1915, at No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station, Remy Siding, Belgium, from shrapnel wounds to his right thigh, abdomen and sacrum.
