Born and lived at Sneinton, Nottingham. Husband of Margaret Martin, of 16, Walker Street, Carlton Road, Sneinton. He was a town labourer prior to enlisting 15th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France 20th July 1915 and was killed in action, 3rd February 1916, by German shellfire, whilst serving in the line at St. Jean, Belgium.
