Sergeant Walter Marshall

Battalion : 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. Son of Lewis John and Mary Ann Marshall, of 6, Milton Terrace, Camp Road., Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. He was a clerk prior to enlisting 14th September 1914 at Hereford. He was appointed Lance Corporal, 15th December 1914, promoted Corporal 18th June 1915 and Sergeant, 11th May 1917. He went to France 28th March 1918 and was transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 9th April 1918. He was killed in action, 29th September 1918, aged 22, during the attack near Vlamertinghe, Belgium.
