Born at Sheffield, Yorkshire and lived at Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Son of John and Amy Marsh, of 12, Warmbrook, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. He was a cotton spinner for English Sewing Cotton Company prior to enlisting at Derby. He went to France 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, 12th December 1915, aged 24, during to German shelling of Battalion Signals Headquarters, near the Ypres Ramparts, Belgium.
