Private Harold Robert Marriott

Battalion: 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

He was born in Paddington, London and was the son of Harry and Louisa Marriott of Thorn Lea, Sneinton Hill, Nottingham. He was a pawnbroker’s assistant prior to enlisting in London. He went to France on 25th February 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
