Born at Sutton-in Ashfield and lived at 21, St. Michael Street, Sutton-in Ashfield Nottinghamshire. Son of Walter and Mary Marriott, of 67, Bowne Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner (pony driver) prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Died of wounds 7th August 1916, at 38 Casualty Clearing Station, Heilly, France, received in action during the attack on Delville Wood, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
